VEOLIA, as the environment services leader in the world, is present in Qatar since almost 15 years in wastewater DB and O&M activities allowing with the recent references to be a key actor in the water security in the country by producing on a yearly basis a treated water volume equivalent to more than
15% of Kahramaa’s drinking water production in 2022.
VEOLIA is committed to the ecological transformation and develops/partners/deploys numerous innovations on the field for operators and clients for better efficiency and improvement o environmental performance. Digital transformation is one of the key and a priority for VEOLIA. In Qatar, for example, many smart
tools have been deployed or are under cost benefit analysis for energy (electricity & gas) and treated water consumption reduction: smart drying, smart pumping control, advanced aeration control, connected salinity management, smart irrigation and Hubgrade digital platform for plants and networks
management.
As an operator but also for Ashghal as the owner of the wastewater treatment plants, the sludge management is also a major concern and is currently highly deficient in terms of environmental performance with very poor recovery possibilities. VEOLIA is proposing a disruptive project which is perfectly suitable for Qatar and its Qatari Corporations targeting decarbonation: applying innovative HydroThermal Liquefaction (HTL) technology to convert excess sludge in biocrude feeding refineries to supply Sustainable Aviation Fuel Hamad Airport.
