Monitoring Environmental Water Quality
Workshop Overview:
The Public Works Authority, Ashghal, is at the forefront of ensuring the resilience and sustainability of Qatar’s treated water by establishing treatment plants across the country. In accordance with Ashghal’s recycling vision, Ashghal Centre for Research and Development offers a variety of services, including treated wastewater quality testing to ensure compliance with Qatar Environmental Law and to ensure the quality of the final effluent to be used for landscaping and irrigation. The objective of this workshop is to understand the concept of quality in treated wastewater through the most recent advanced chemical and biological testing techniques.

At the end of the workshop the participants will be able to:
1. Describe types of waste water, origins, and contents.
2. Explain wastewater recycling management system within the frame sustainable water resources management.
3. Assess the physico-chemical quality of water using various tests and their related regulatory limits.
4. Perform microbiological and physicochemical testing of water.
5. Apply learned concepts to discuss case-studies.
