Biography of Dr. Fatima Al-Naemi
Dr. Fatima Al-Naemi is an esteemed academician, researcher, and administrator in the field of Biological Sciences. With over a quarter-century of dedication to academia, she has contributed extensively to Qatar University and the Community College of Qatar (CCQ) through various capacities.
Academic Journey:
Dr. Al-Naemi’s scholastic journey began with a Bachelor’s degree in Botany and Microbiology from Qatar University, where she graduated with an impressive GPA of 4.89/5. She later pursued a Master’s degree in Plant Disease Ecology from Kansas State University, USA, achieving a GPA of 3.81/4. Her passion for Plant Disease Ecology continued as she earned her Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Reading, UK, where her research focused on “Insect-fungus interactions on broad bean (Vicia faba L.)”.
Professional Experience:
Over the years, Dr. Al-Naemi has held multiple administrative positions, including serving as the Dean of the Students Affairs Division at CCQ, where she was instrumental in setting strategies during the pandemic and launching initiatives for students with special needs. Her leadership capabilities were further highlighted when she became the Dean of the Science & Technology Division at CCQ. During her tenure, she presented proposals for new academic programs and aligned the division’s strategy with the college’s broader goals. She also played a pivotal role as the Associate Dean for Academic & Students Affairs at CCQ, streamlining several academic processes within the institution.
One of her notable contributions at Qatar University was as the Head of the Department of Biological and Environmental Sciences. Here, she initiated and signed several Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) with international institutions and hosted symposiums and research forums.
Committee Involvements:
Dr. Al-Naemi has been an active member of various committees, both at the departmental and college levels. Her recent commitments include serving on a Ministry-Level research committee formed by the Minister of Municipality and Environment. She has chaired and been a part of several strategic committees at CCQ, focusing on academic issues, course scheduling, recruitment, and more.
Research and Publications:
A prolific researcher, Dr. Al-Naemi has numerous publications to her name in esteemed journals, covering topics ranging from environmental impacts to fungal pathogens and plant diseases. Her research on “produced water” was notably published in the Scientific Reports journal. Additionally, she has been involved in various research projects, both as a Lead Principal Investigator and as a Co-PI, exploring diverse areas within her field of expertise.
